Travel in india with a urostomy, any tips?
I would love to travel in India for a month or so.
At the risk of offending any of you good folks who
may live in India, I need to ask a few questions.
I have a urostomy. Most of the books I've read
about India, both nonfiction and fiction, describe
public hygiene in the major cities as
significantly different than we Westerners are
used to. (The books are all by South Asian
authors, and include "Maximum City, Bombay
Lost and Found" by Suketu Mehta, and several
of Salman Rushdie...

Urostomy and full time wheelchair user
Hi folks
I was just wondering if there was anyone in the
same position as me, being a full time wheelchair
user.
I had a spinal cord injury a number of years ago
but had to have a urostomy in 2009. I was given
this as a last resort as I had so many issues with
my bladder previously.
I am just looking to see how others get on if
there is anyone else.
Thanks in advance

Where do you change your urostomy pouch
I am just where people change their urostomy
pouches?
Like in the bathroom, bedroom, lying down,
standing up, or sitting?
I have spina bifida so I have to change it while
sitting.
Sometimes that does not get the best adhesion
because the stomach is not flat when changing it.
Just curious how other people change their pouches
to get the longest wear time?

Random urostomy leaks
Hi guys,
Since I had my urostomy in March I've tried a few
kinds of bags and most of time they work OK but
once in a while they let go of my skin without any
obvious cause or warning.
The stoma nurses have been very helpful offering
different kit and advice but I'm getting the
impression they are getting a bit exasperated with
me and my wilful ways. Actually I don't have a
deep seated desire to spring a leak in public
places and am not trying to sabotage their
efforts. I put the bags on ...

Husband has a urostomy
My husband has a urostomy for almost two years.
His ex-wife left him after learning about his
bladder cancer. The problem for me is getting him
to accept that I think he's a very attractive,
kind, intelligent, and loving person who I am
deeply in love with. He still feels that the bag
makes him ugly in appearance and is hesitant to
work out in the gym due to his urostomy. I don't
even notice the bag and would gladly give him part
of my bladder if that was possible. What can I do
to get him ...

Urostomy leaking
I have had my urostomy since 1980 and over the
years I have gained weight and now there is a very
deep crease right across the middle of my stoma
and it is leaking. I am having to change it
sometimes every one to two days and I am getting
quite frustrated. Has anyone tried the Convatec
Disposable Insert and if so how do you size it.
My stoma is 3/4 inch. And if you have tried it
how is it working for you? Any other suggestion
as to what I should try would be greatly
appreciated. Thank you.

All was going well until this afternoon. She has
gone about 4 hours now with very little urine
coming out. Not a normal day. She is one month
post-op. Is this something to be concerned about?
We changed the bag today and everything looked
good. Thanks.

Stent and urostomy questions
So I am fairly well recovered from my recent
colectomy but now learning that the radiation 15
years ago continues to lurk in other organs. I've
been dealing with kidney blockage, had stents
inserted in both urethra at the same time as my
December colectomy. In February I had signs of
urinary blockage (thankfully not painful like
colon blockages!) and the urologist decided to
change out the stents. But he found them
encrusted and decided to not replace them as the
encrustation could be adding ...

Urostomy journal uk summer edition
I was wondering if any UK Urostomists got the
summer edition of the Urostomy magazine. I could
not believe it when it dropped through my letter
box. I had been at the Glasgow Dansac roadshow a

the rounds of the UK and is well worth a visit.
The main feature of the roadshow is a play
entitled "Still me Waving" which takes a
look at living with a stoma.
Anyway I was gobsmacked because I had my picture

Urostomy problem
Hi,
I am new here. I had a urostomy 6 yrs. ago.
Recently, when changing my bag I am
seeing dark skin around the stoma. The stoma is a
healthy color. I also notice
a tad more blood when cleaning the stoma. This is
very scary for me.
Anyone have this or heard of this problem?
Thanks and God bless.

Urostomy bag,ileal conduit
I need to know how I can put my urostomy bag on by
myself without the help of my husband. I am very
short and have gained weight so we stand in
bathroom with mirror and as I am applying gauze to
the stoma so the urine (which leaks out as soon as
I take patch off to replace) will stop flowing (we
clean at this time also), my husband applies the
cream that goes around the stoma and as I am still
holding the gauze on he than applies the bag. We
need 3-4 hands and I feel I should be doing this

Urostomy supplies
I was accidentally shipped urostomy supplies a few
months ago. The supply company never sent anyone
to pick them up, and they didn't give me any
address to ship them to. So the supplies have been
here long enough!
If you have a urostomy and could use some
supplies, send me an e-mail and I give you the
specifics of what I have. I will ship them to the
USA and Canada only.

Any surgeons to convert 40yr old urostomy to continent div.?
I was born with an extrophy of the bladder in '64
and have had my urostomy since '71. I'm looking
for a specialist who could convert my urostomy
into a continent diversion like Sweede's. I'd
ultimately like to get rid of old scar tissue and
also get vaginal reconstruction due to my
condition. Where could surgeoens all do this?
Could it be covered on insurance in the USA?
Could I be a candidate if I have 3rd stage kidney
disease and a history of kidney stones due to
recurring UTI infections?...

Urostomy
[quote/Roberto]
There seems to be a lot of focus on colostomy.
Well the management of URO-OSTOMY is much more
difficult, because, the flow of urine is
24X7,& the erosion of the skin barrier is
unpredictable. Mucus content in the urine,
deposits onto the walls of uro-pouch, constantly,
causes the walls sticks to each other, resulting
in a back flow and damage of the skin barrier. The
leakage starts without an alert. What are the
solutions to prevent any embarrassing situations.
