Hello Beth,

Sorry to read about your bag trials.
I suspect that the holes are caused in the manufacturing process. Perhaps the machine that cuts and fuses edges gets small particles of sand or metal that poke holes during the cutting and fusing process. It could be an older piece of equipment that sees very little use or cleaning. I think you mentioned thinner plastic being used. That would make it even easier to puncture.
Or the plastic may come to them with holes from faulty manufacturing processes.

As Bob suggested, I would be willing to request a sample and complain loudly if I get a faulty bag.
What is the manufacturer's name and code#?
Surely if a bunch of us (who can) do this, it would bring more attention.

Miznola, it is during the manufacturing process. I know that already. And I know a lot of other information about what they are doing and what has changed. I am way ahead of the game. The whole point of the post was to bring awareness to others and to see if anyone else had holes. Then again, I am one of the few who wears a clear bag. Complaining loudly to headquarters in the US isn't and hasn't done anything, especially when I have sent over 500 bags back to them, holes circled on the bag, and also they have all those pictures on file already. Which they failed to relay all information over to Denmark, and I had to resend. I have been in contact with the CEO of Coloplast, and I have had a virtual meeting with some of the head people in Denmark.

Well it's just coming upto a year since I had my emergency stoma. Since joining MAOM I have learnt all different kinds of ideas to help with the stoma. Not only that I have made a lot of good friends who I can talk to. The beauty of this site is it's not just giving tips and ideas we talk about anything and everything. So thank you for giving us a great site. XX

I also only use Coloplast. I have never had a problem with the one-piece drainable. That is wild that you are getting so many of them like that.

I have for over a year and a half now.

Since you are the only one getting a huge amount of holes in your bags, could it be you are clearly allergic to this bag too? Five hundred bags returned shows there is a major problem and the common denominator. I have used Coloplast one piece for over 10 years. I had a tail leak recently, but holes in batches and batches of bags—no way I would use another brand ASAP. Too much work you are doing for the same failure over and over again. Very stressful for you too.

How is having holes in the bags being allergic? That makes no sense at all, and holes in the bags have nothing to do with being allergic. And I have posted multiple times above about switching; I can't. I have tried every single brand there is and then some. I am allergic to every brand but Coloplast. And yes, I have tried every type of bag that Coloplast has, including the Assura line and the Sensura line, and the same thing: they all have holes. And it has been well over 500 bags and counting. And yeah, the common denominator is Coloplast. I didn't have this issue two years ago; the first year had no issues, not until they switched where they are manufacturing the bags and the downgrade on the laminate and even the plastic on the bottom. And maybe I am the only one who actually pays attention and speaks up since none of us who are paying for our product—it's not given to us for free—we are paying for it—should have cheap, faulty bags. I am also talking about the other companies' bags that are failing, especially when that's our lifeline.

The main reason I responded is that there are new folks with stomas on this site. I am sure when they hear about bags with holes from one manufacturer, it is scary.

I have been on this site since 2006 and have never heard of such a large amount of bags with holes. In fact, over the years, it has become very, very rare. I have used/tried most ostomy bags in the US. Coloplast is the bag I am using now.

Beth, sorry you are having so many problems.

I used Coloplast for 8 years and never had holes. I'm sorry, Beth, that you are experiencing this; it's beyond frustrating.

Married so because people are new I shouldn't speak the truth of what's going on and the situation I am in? Yeah, I'm not going to do that for many reasons. One, I am an ostomate just like everyone else on this site, and the site is to talk about issues we are having or help others be aware of what's going on with products since we are the ones that know the true ins and outs versus someone without an ostomy. I am allowed, just like everyone else, to say or share the issues and problems I am having, which I don't ever really do. Matter of fact, in two years, I have started a post maybe a handful of times. And two, no one said they couldn't use them. I think we are all smart enough to make our own decisions, and we should be making our own decisions and not based on what people say here. And count it a blessing you don't have to deal with the issues, and you haven't had to deal with the issues for almost two years now. And it's happening whether people want to believe it or not.
