This brought a smile to my face; not because of the joke, but because I first read it as "I got my wife to be a sewing machine" and was envisaging some sort of game of charades. It doesn't really matter what brings on the smile as long as it's there! It reminded me of an 'in-joke' between my wife and I, where she wants a dishwasher and I protest that I already have one!
