Can I eat split pea soup if I blend it with a blender after it is cooked?

I don't see why not.

They gave me split pea soup in the hospital after my ileostomy. I imagine you're absolutely fine eating split pea soup.

This group has been my go-to during my loneliest hours whenever I've had a "bag blowout" at 3am and there was no one else in the world to talk to.

Because it's a global community, there's always someone here to lend an ear, provide advice, and just hold my hand if that's all I need.

Sure, there's also a lot of camaraderie, fun topics, and laughs, but the main reason I come here is for the total acceptance I get from the members. No one else on the planet could possibly "get" what I'm going through, not even my loving husband or supportive family.

The "Meet an Ostomate" forum is definitely a one-of-a-kind family, which I am very proud to belong to.

Yes, split peas normally go very soft if you cook them long enough and taste best if cooked with smoked ham. Add some potatoes and onions, and you have a great meal.

Hi K, my wife just made pea soup this past Sunday from the ham bone left over from Easter. I get pretty bad gas from it, but then there's Beano to help with that.

We were taught in interest thermal therapy school that anything you could eat before you had your stoma you can eat after....BUT... I found out after I was an ostomate that that is not entirely true. There are reasons for our dietary restrictions for those of us who poop in a bag.

I have found that nuts and seeds, if they are not combined with other foods, will create blockage, as well as broccoli rabe—that's the part of broccoli that's not the little flower soft part at the end. So my question to you goes like this:

Were you able to eat split pea soup before you had a stoma?

Always liked pea soup before my ileostomy but was leery of making it with the pieces of vegetables being too large. Just got done making a large pot of it in a slow cooker but changed how I prepared the vegetables. Used the food processor to get them really small, sautéed them in olive oil to get them softer, added them to the soup mix, and when done, pureed it. Came out just as good as my other recipe.

I've had pea soup several times. I used to blend it into a purée before my ileostomy, so that's how I have it now. No issues.
