Thanks Susan, your first paragraph cleared up everything for me.

"I never change just the bag. I do both always. A 2-piece drainable Mio Click Sensura.

Reasons to change the bag only depend on why.

But my thread was about the entire thing being replaced since the skin was at fault."

The above clears it up for me. I hadn't realized that many persons with 2-piece appliances and open-end pouches refer to the entire assembly as the "bag".

To answer your query about reasons to change the bag only — closed-end pouches.

I need to mentally make a note that many users, not just those with ileostomies, use open-end pouches.

It would have never occurred to me if someone said their bag was leaking that they could be referring to leaks underneath their wafer. 🙄

I am not too old to learn, thanks for shedding some light for me.

No worries. Common issues. Common misunderstandings.

In the car trade, we use generic terms. Now American cars and foreign car makers use the same language when troubleshooting on-board diagnosis—that damn check engine light. Also referred to as "MIL" (Maintenance Indicator Light) has all the same terminology.

It wasn't like that in the past.

We here don't have generic terms. What you may call a wafer, I thought was a barrier ring—made sense at one time.

You know Nilla wafers, the cookie? They don't look like a bag to me. Specifically, a one-piece that attaches to your body.

Where do you see a wafer from this round cookie image? Yeah, I'm tired. Shift ended. It's a bit after midnight.

Like you, I change the entire appliance. I think you said that or were quoting me? Zzzzzzz.

Um, I never say my bag leaks. My appliance leaks indeed with bad adhesion from irritated skin.

Keep in mind the title was not my design but A.I. rewrote that title, not me. And to me, it has a different effect.

I got a 45-minute drive home.

I will add when there. But terms definitions are really misplaced for simpletons like me. TTYS.
