Old soldiers never die. They just fade away.

PB,
How appropriate your post. We, both, us who have served and those who have not, owe so much to those who made the sacrifice whether small or the ultimate one, their lives. One cannot help but turn misty, when those photos showing older American veterans proudly wearing the lapel pin of the American Flag, standing and proudly saluting their flag. Most of us have never seen what their eyes have, nor experienced the things they have while defending our country. A proud few have had their names immortalized by their heroic deeds, such as the raising of the flag on Iwo Jima and the wearers of "The Medal". But the unknowns are also owed a debt of gratitude. It is so fitting that on this day we honor them, all who have served.
You done good PB, posting this thread.
God bless America!

interesting that this noble topic has but a single reply......however "ostomy and pot" has 5-6 pages of banter and made "topic of the month".
what is wrong with the "quality" of people on this site ?? what is wrong with america ??
we have worried so long about "fairness" and offending anyone that the left wing nut jobs are now running the show. disgusting isnt it...??

I am extremely proud of the contributions made by our men and women in wartime conflicts over the years and hold those who paid the ultimate sacrifice in great esteem. ANZAC Day and Remembrance Day here and in New Zealand are very special days for the vast majority of people and are the days we pay homage to both those who fought and sadly those who lost their lives in the defence of our nations.
What I do find offensive is to read the comments above following two wonderfully poignant posts by Prime and CD. To take this opportunity to denigrate others, while not even making comments on the issue itself, just reflects on the writer and demeans the entire post. Sadly it appears that no opportunity will be lost by this person to treat others with contempt.
As I have stated these were wonderful sentiments by these two gentlemen and surely echoed by others whether they contribute anything in writing or not.
