I expect that yes. I am on a yearly schedule. You need to ask. My issues are not the same as yours but I am sure they want to see that all is OK.

Thanks for the welcome, guys. I have to admit this website does seem very friendly and helpful.

I will definitely log into chat as soon as I can and see who is around. Looking forward to meeting some like-minded people! :)

LF,

If you still have a rectal stump or a colostomy, I would think that it would be a good idea just to make sure nothing bad is happening there.  You just have to be sure to let the doc know if he doesn't already know, that you have an ostomy.

I would think colostomates still have to have the prep but if you have and ileostomy with your rectal stump intact, there is no need for the prep since nothing is hooked up down there anyways.

I opted for a sigmoidoscopy to have my rectal stump inspected.  Cheaper and shorter amount of time for the checkup, but really uncomfortable.  And no good drugs to forget about the experience!...lol

If you or your family has a history of digestive cancer, I would say get screened once a year.  Otherwise, I would suggest once every 3-5 years.  Just my 2 cents.

Hi from Baltimore.i wish I could’ve had a colonoscopy in my 30s but I weighted until my late fifties when the polyps got bad and I had two different cancers in my rectom. Take advantage of the opportunity to make sure you don’t have any thing growing.jerz from Baltimore
