My title VIPs addresses or identifies some very important peoples, (VIPs) that you may not have known experienced our very own life journey. You may even say , "wow, I didn't know that."

Dwight " Ike" Eisenhower was the 34th US President. In May 1956 halfway through his second term as president, Eisenhower was diagnoised with chrohn's disease. This is a disease that causes inflammaton along the small and large intestines. In 1956, his doctors performed a permanent Ileostransverse Colostomy and five days later he resumed conducting official buisness.

Marvin Bush,  the youngest son of former US President George H.W  Bush,  was diagnosed in 1985 with ulcerative colitis and he dealt with the disease until 1986. That same year, his physician conducted a life saving ostomy surgery.

Loretta Young was an American Actress who won the Academy Awards. It is confirmed that she had an ostomy, though it is not documented that she had the surgery.

Letitia Badrige was Jacqueline Kennedy Onasis social secretary and head of staff in the white house office. Letitica was diagnosed with colon cancer in 1978 and had ostomy surgery.

Imagine  what they must have went through because technology back then was not like it  is today but they wanted to live!

Lastly, I will mention one fellow ostomate VIP and that is Immarsh. For over 50 years, she has endured so much  but she pushed on, living was her priority in life.

There are so many ostamates out there who many of you would consider or call VIPs. The afforementioned people are my heroes.

I'm sure at the beginning of each of your journeys with an ostomy, that you probably wanted to give up but we all kept pushing on. Perhaps there are times when it can be a difficult life but we hang in there. Most importantly, we are alive! So in closing, live your life to it's fullliest. My fellow ostomates keep your head up and be that VIP.

To all my fellow ostamates to include those of us who are currently on the forum and to those who were born with ostomys around the world, I say to you, " come out and express yourselves,"  because you are all Very Important Peoples!

xnine : “Red Skelton’ was born in July 18, 1913. He was one of the great American Entertainers and he is known as a national television and radio comedian from 1937 to 1971. He was also the host of ‘The Red Skelton Show’ which has been a long-running TV program. Skelton has been known in the TV industry because of his presence in casinos, films, TV, nightclubs, and radio since he was a teenager. Despite his success, he also became known for wearing his colostomy bags. The good thing is that he was not prevented to do great and perform well in his career.
