Kind Pastimes -discourse

Posted by Bill

In my quest to find and document in rhyme  examples of 'kindness', I occasionally write something that I feel may be relevant to this site. Below is one such rhyme, which I hope some of you might appreciate:

Best wishes

A great pastime can be discourse,
because sometimes it is a force,
for helping people readjust
to all those things that are unjust.

What may be found in dialogue
with the poor or underdog,
is that it helps them think things through
and gain an informed point of view.

Communication is the key,
to setting the human mind free
from all the crap that is about,
and B-S politicians spout.

When indulging in discussion,
there might be some repercussion,
and some might ridicule or scoff,
but never let that put you off.

For talking stimulates the mind,
and if, when talking, we are kind,
we can be an influence
and that can lead to confluence.

Whether discourse is through talk,
or writing via pen or chalk,
or even new technology,
there’s no need for apology.

Some people feel the need to sign
and for deaf people, this is fine,
for as they sign they also smile,
which make it seem much more worthwhile.

As we must all communicate,
I feel we should not hesitate
to make our discourse kind and calm,
and try our best to do no harm.
