I always seem to have leaks just below my stoma. The skin is definitely softer down there. What I've noticed is my barrier ring always expands up and around my stoma and I think it then starts to leak around the bottom.

I have recently changed to a different pouch as the ones I was using didn't stick to me as well as they used to ( Sensura Mio)

I'm still deciding which new brand I will carry on with, they all stick . Some drain better, some crinkle more, some have thin coverings. None seem perfect, maybe I'm too fussy !

After 13 years of having an AJ pouch, I am going in for a complete removal of the J pouch and a permanent ileostomy bag.
Any feedback would be appreciated.
I am really nervous about my first surgery, which had me in the hospital for 3 months.
I have since been diagnosed with Crohn's, and it is moving up 40 cm into my small intestine and all throughout the J pouch.

Good morning, ostomates. First off, I want to thank all who chimed in on my first post about the "smelly pouch." It turns out it is "all in my head." I made an appointment with my nurse and wore smelly clothes from the day before just to make sure she could smell it. All she could smell was the baby powder fragrance from my antiperspirant. For any representatives of Braun Medical, I would like them to be aware of how unfair and unreasonable B. Braun have been by removing the Irg Pump without offering a viable alternative. Those of us who rely on the 100% control over our incontinence provided by the pump will be devastated when our existing pumps fail and there is no support.

Question in regards to ileostomy and fat-soluble gel cap vitamins like vitamin D: Does an ileostomy absorb them, or does the pill just come out in the ostomy bag? I've had time-released medications in the past, or any that are enteric-coated, and they just go right through and into the bag. Just curious if anyone here with an ileostomy takes or has taken fat-soluble gel capsules. Thanks, all.

Hi all, does anyone have suggestions on how to have a fairly regular time to have output from a colostomy? I have a lot of output daily between 5 and 7 pm, very inconvenient. A few hours later would be really good. Thoughts?
