Nausea and Eating Challenges After Bowel Surgery

This topic is about dealing with nausea and eating challenges after bowel surgery, particularly when someone has undergone multiple surgeries and now has a stoma. The person is struggling with drinking enough fluids and eating, and they are curious if others have experienced similar issues and how long it took to feel normal again.

Here are some helpful insights and advice shared by others:

1. After major bowel surgeries, it's common to have trouble absorbing fluids. One person mentioned they receive 1 liter of Lactated Ringer’s solution daily through a PICC line to stay hydrated.

2. Oral Rehydration Solution (ORS) powders can be beneficial. A product called DripDrop, which is a single-serve mix added to water, was suggested for trying out.

3. It might be useful to look up previous discussions on hydration in forums. Some members have shared detailed hydration protocols that could be helpful.

4. Be prepared for a long adjustment period. Someone with a similar experience mentioned living on a bland, limited diet with only water for the first three months. Over time, their ability to eat and drink improved, but it required a lot of patience and time.
