Hi All and Emergency Bags.

This topic is all about being prepared for emergencies when you have an ostomy. The discussion centers around whether it's a good idea to have pre-packed emergency bags with ostomy supplies ready to go. The conversation was sparked by a story about a child who was left without necessary equipment after an earthquake. Here's what people are doing to stay prepared:

1. Many people carry a small toiletry or emergency bag in their purse or handbag. These bags usually contain 1 to 3 full appliance changes, ensuring that supplies are always within reach.

2. Some folks keep identical kits in their work bag or briefcase. This way, they are never caught without supplies while away from home.

3. At home, several people keep an overnight bag or bookbag in a wardrobe. These bags often contain a week's to a month's worth of supplies, ready for a quick evacuation if needed.

4. A number of members store 3 changes, and sometimes a spare outfit, in their vehicles. This ensures they are prepared no matter where the day takes them.

5. One suggestion is to leave a supply cache with a trusted friend or relative. This can be a lifesaver if your primary residence becomes inaccessible after a disaster.

6. The ConvaTec me+ bag is recommended by one user. It holds about a week's worth of products and is moved next to their hurricane-season "go" kit each June.

7. Many contributors agree that there's no such thing as being over-prepared. Having multiple kits organized can bring peace of mind, even if they are never needed.

8. Some people point out that in the event of a real fire, personal safety should be the first priority. However, having pre-packed kits can help reduce panic once the immediate danger has passed.
