Hi all,

I was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis ten years ago. Three times I have met with my surgeon to discuss having an ileostomy but have decided against it. Over the years my options have become more and more limited. I cannot take 5-ASAs as they affect my blood. Last August I was diagnosed with breast cancer and ended up having to have surgery, chemo and radiotherapy. Fortunately my UC behaved itself during this time but it has recently flared and my doctor has told me I have no other options open to me now apart from surgery. They will not prescribe to me any immunosuppressants or biological therapy and unfortunately the steroids have not worked. I feel so tired of feeling unwell so have joined here hopefully to make some friends and to find support going through this difficult journey.
