New to the forum. March 25th rushed to one hospital then transported to another. March 26th early morning I became a ostomy patient. It was the ileostomy or my life. No choice but to operate after I was stable enough to handle anesthesia. My initial diagnosis was intestinal blockage of some kind with appendix involvement along with septecemia. Ended up with several blockages (large and small colon), ruptured appendix, several absesses/lesions, peristaltic area was fully septic, etc. Outcome, ileo, one half of my large intestine resected along with another few feet of small intestine. Appendix was thought to be in what they called that mess. Full midline open incision to bring to rehab along with waking up on a respirator. I survived. Just a tummy virus I had thought the previous 2 weeks beforehand. Yep, I was definitely wrong.

Other than above I love anything outdoors, music and charitable causes. Ready to get back to life again. Still healing and looking for anything to help out this new me! Hopefully a reversal after the 6 to 8 wait but just thanking I'm alive and keeping it simple. I've had issues since day 1 with my bag. Flat stoma and high output. Plus skin being irritated. That's the worst thing out of all of this.

Just thankful for an extension to my life. I remain optimistic even when I have my down times.
