I had my operation in 2016 as an emergency, It was meant to be temporal after a year with some few test done I was given the news that my stoma will be permanent.

I am a mother of 3 children 24Daughter, 20Son and 5girl years my husband was very supportive when he knew that the stoma was temporal I am not sure now how he is coping in his head because we were not sexually active waiting for the stoma to be removed, after the news that it is permanent I am not sure what is in his mind but I could see a big disappointment in his face.
I had lost a lot of weight before the operation, now I have gained double the weight making my stoma tuck in I had to go to a special nurse she recommended a bag with a cuplike wafer but at the hospital they say I do not need that pouch. I have been comfortable with this pouch although it is bulgy than the one they prescribe for me at the hospital.
I cant even fit on my clothes, when my weight was low I could fit in loosely and comfortable but now everything is very tight on me I change under wear for a more supporting but I think the heat of putting lot of clothes because of the cold winter we experiencing in Cape Town and tight fitting clothes is making my bag not to stick properly.
I have not heard of any support group for ostomates in and around Cape Town.
