In August, I will have stoma surgery. Last year I was diagnosed with colon cancer. A part of my colon was removed. My Doctor placed a ileostomy for about 7 months. I was getting use to empty my bag about 10x a day. The day came in March 2018, where my Doctor reconnected my colon. Since then, I’ve been having uncontrollable bowel movements with a lot of pain. The pain was very bad in that some days I had to take Percocet. I can’t sit for prolong time because of pain to my rectum. I spoke to my Doctor. He said because of scar tissue, it was causing a blockage for my waste. He performed a dialation to keep my blockage open. After this procedure, he examined me and told me there’s still a blockage. He told me my next course of action was to consider getting a permanent colostomy.
I’ve been struggling with this decision. I don’t want any more pain and taking the meds. Has anybody been through this as me? Your input/experience is greatly appreciated. My Doctor said if I choose this, my quality of life would return! I so much desire this. Yet, I’m still frightened
