I’ve had IBD for almost 50 years. I was able to live my life with flare ups here and there. Into thousand and 12 I became incontinent and didn’t leave my house for five years. In 2016 I moved to Baltimore to be near my children and got very very sick lost 25 pounds went through infusions and finally made the decision that I wanted a life other than being at home by myself. Before I made the decision I spent many months in therapy and many Appointment with the surgeon and had my ileostomy on December 23.
I would say my reason for joining the site would be for support, tips And just being able to talk to people that understand. I’m also going to join a local support group.
Even now after only six weeks with a lot of complications I am not sorry that I made this decision. It’s not easy there’s a big learning curve but I am looking forward to the next chapter.
