Crohns survivor-Permanent Colostomy
Diagnosed with Crohn's in my early 20's-went in with the thought of appendicitis, had surgery yo realize it was not that but Crohn’s -managed for number of years with tons of medications, when they stopped working I had my first surgery:
2005: resection of small and large intestines to remove infected area
Within 6 months Crohn’s returned, went back in medication and started with biological... first I tried Remicade, had some side effects so moved to Humira. When Humira stopped working did three aggressive rounds of prednisone, with the inevitable next step of surgery again :
2016- second surgery resulting in ileostomy but -major complications - output too high, only manageable with a lot of drugs.
2017- third surgery resulting in my now permanent colostomy - was able to keep stoma on right side
I work a high paced stressful job, which I love, but really takes a toll on me at times.
I love to go to concerts and enjoy the beach in the summer, road trips, the out doors, as well as cuddle time.
Looking for someone to share this with.
