Off sick from work due to cancer showing up again after a 3 year break and although I had my ileo reversed after 9 months. I have a now redundant J-pouch since I've recently had a permanent transverse colostomy as a semi-urgent operation on 6th December 2010. I've been single for the four years since I became ill, but have had short "relationships" during that time, including one with my stoma.

I don't really have any issues with my stoma, he's called Fatty Arbuckle (still shrinking so perhaps that's a tad unfair, but he's twice the size of PooTumWilly my ileo so Fatty he remains).

I'm just here for those times when being alone gets a bit too much. Happy to talk about colorectal cancer with fellow patients or anyone about anything really. Not much happening in my day to day life at the moment, just the usual hospital appointments that clog up my calendar.

I'm 40 but don't think I look it and certainly don't feel it mentally.

Due to illness this year I've dropped to a UK size 10 and having replaced my 12/14 clothes now looking for above navel stoma flattering clothes - it's a bind. Gravity and time aren't as kind as to allow me the exact same figure (damn you collagen, escaping).

My two (lovely - one of each, but I'm biased) children are now living with their dad (late teens - nearer to civilisation and I live in the middle of nowhere).

I have plans to revisit Rome after my current planned treatment finishes and would love to learn to scuba dive. I have a friend in Malta who works at a diving school so that looks like a plan for a holiday. Has anyone been able to dive with a stoma? I don't see why it would be an issue. If it is ever possible I'd love to then return to the beaches in the Thai gulf.
