ME AND MY OSTOMY.

‘Twas not an answered prayer for me.

To ‘have' to have an ‘Ostomy'.

It's no more easy to adjust.

Just because something's a ‘must'.

I could whine and feel quite sad.

But now it's done it's not so bad.

Bright blood - red as it could be.

It's not unlike a rose to see.

Rose red colour, shape as well.

Shame it hasn't got same smell.

Bulbous shapes surround a hole.

As if formed by mini-mole.

Shows  sensuous femininity.

Plus  protruding  masculinity

There is base beauty to be found.

In this mucus membrane mound.

I appreciate it's feel when warm.

And celebrate its rounded form.

When washing with the water cold.

It shrivels like it's growing old.

Predictably it starts to grow.

Once warm internal fluids flow.

I must surmise how I might be.

Without my mighty  ostomy

Pre–ostomy with so much pain.

I would not want that back again.

Pre-ostomy as I recall.

I hardly had a life at all.

From all that painful past I'm free

Now my stoma's part of me.

Hello to those who read or replied to this post.

Thank you so much for your feedback. For the most part I write this stuff for my own amusement and to document things without academic emphasis and without any audience in mind.

It is good to occasionally find people who might be interested in some of the weird trivia that sometimes crosses my mind.

As for doing more - I first need motivation, then I need time, then I need subject matter that has the potential for versification. Usually that means some sort of 'weeny wail-of-woe'.

Perhaps I'll post the verse by that title so it becomes a little clearer.

Best wishes

Bill

Hi Bill: Eric in Canada here. I saw your bit about having an ostomy. Pretty good, I have one as well, hoping to get a reversal. Anyway, it got me thinking. What a marvelous piece of engineering is the human body. Not appreciated until something goes wrong. I was inspired to write the following, hope you don't mind me inflicting it upon you:

LIFE / DEATH

Who can comprehend?

Eternity, light years,

The universe

Darwin's Theory, The Big Bang

Something missing

The human body system

Who can comprehend the marvelous way in which it works?
It is only appreciated when a part fails.
Try wearing an ostomy pouch for a few months

Internal plumbing is usually the subject of bad jokes
But it is a marvel of human engineering

Who engineered it?

Move up to the noggin,
More complex than any computer

I am a skeptic, but there has to be something beyond Darwin's Theory and the Big Bang

Logic is not the answer

Belief is

But how can you believe the enormity, even when the proof is staring you in the face?
