All:

I received information concerning a colon cancer clinical trial via email. A quick look at the qualifications showed I might be eligible. I sent an email saying I was interested. What is the next step?

To anyone that has been involved in a trial, please describe the experience.

The specific trial I am writing about today:

Bristol-Myers Squibb is sponsoring a study to test the effectiveness, safety, and tolerability of the investigational drug nivolumab. The study will evaluate the effects of nivolumab alone or combined with ipilimumab in adults with recurrent or metastatic microsatellite instability high (MSI-H) colon cancer.

Any information is appreciated.

Cheers,

John

Hi John - I have not participated in a clinical trial, but have training in the administration of cancer clinical trials, and I'd just like to say "Bravo" to you for considering and possibly participating in this one you have mentioned. Lack of participation by courageous people like you is one of the reasons the pipeline for new treatments is so slow, especially for the more rare or unusual conditions.

I wish all the best for you and a successful outcome in your treatment, so you can go on enjoying the beauty of Big Bend (on my list of the NPs to visit "someday"). Pinky (aka Pam) ; in sunny San Diego

I was in one for FAP and it sure helps in lots of ways -- you get very thorough care, often the bills are much less, and above all it helps with research -- good luck and if you get into something and it does not seem right you can end it --- Good luck!
