Wonder if anyone else has had the same problem. I had the runs after my Xmas dinner. It felt different as it was gushing through my colon, lots of mucus, on and off for a week or so. Also, really bad nausea. Ten weeks later, after blood, stool tests, etc., I still feel as bad as ever. No pain, just feel horrid. The odd thing is, whereas before I used to get plenty of wind in my bad, now there doesn't seem to ever be any. And I'm eating okay as I'm always hungry. Lost weight and go hot then cold and tired all the time. Could it be due to my colon not getting rid of gas, etc?

Hello erika.

Sorry to hear about your problems but it sounds to me as thoguh this is something that needs to be investigated 'properly'and thoroughly. A trip to your GP is in order and don't let him/her fob you off with platitudes and pills. The symptoms you describe do not sound as if they are from a 'simple' cause as they have persisdted for too long. If your own GP doesn't know what is wrong, ask if you can be referred to a specialist.

Best wishes

I've seen a specialist, had a CT scan, but no results back yet. I'm having a camera down in two weeks. Just wondered if it could be due to my colostomy.

Hello Erika.

The symptoms you describe can be the result of many different things and the colostomy could be one such explanation. However, It does not do to make assumptions a nd guesses at these things and it is much better to get the necessary tests done and dusted before wondering what else it could be.

The anxiety that waiting for medical examinations and results create is well known, especially to those who have had to endure the wait. it is sometimes useful to seek a professional to talk to about the emotional aspect of coping with this sort of thing. However, I would caution you about how you, or anyone else goes about this, as the medical profession are often quick to presume that anything they have not got a cure or treament for  must be psychological. Unfortunately, this can create a situation where they start to discount physical causes until the pshychological symptoms have been addressed. Completely the wrong way round in terms of approach as far as I  can see.

I wish you well with your investigations and I hope that they come up with a proper diagnosis that can be addressed asap.

Best wishes
