In the last year, I have noticed blood spotting in my discharge from the rectum. Over the last 2 months, it has gotten much worse. Why?

Rcdc13,

Sometimes the rectal stump can become inflamed. It might not be a bad idea to get a colonoscopy or sigmoidoscopy to make sure nothing bad is happening. I still pass blood and mucus but my last checkup turned out fine. Other than the bleeding from the procedure that is. Comes with the territory.

I also noticed a link between certain things I ate and the amount of discharge I had. The biggest one was beer, so naturally I just dealt with the discharge. I wasn't giving up beer. Now it's all sewn up!

That's interesting, the same thing happens to me if I drink a few too many.
