'Twas the Night Before Xmas

‘Twas the night before Xmas and all through the blogs,/
Not a creature was stirring, not even the dogs;/
The wordsmiths had hung up their plotting of posts,/
And shelved all the diaries, the stories and boasts;/
It seemed all the ostomy articles slowed/
While outside in some places snow swirled and blowed/
(If you’re thinking that “blowed” should have really been “blew,”/
That’s okay, ‘cause I’m dealing with rhyming – who knew?)./
Anyway, it’s tomorrow, that glorious what’d-you-buy day/
When we all can relax as thank gawd it’s Friday,/
While tonight all the children, if they haven’t left home,/
Will be all snuggled up, but not reading this poem,/
All the last minute shoppers will head home with their stuff,/
Tired feet, empty wallets, and thoughts of “Enough!”/
The merchants will count all the money they got/
And hope all the ads that they ran weren’t for naught./
Then up in the sky, you believers may think,/
Rose a sleigh and some reindeer, don’t blink/
Or you’ll miss the excitement the alleged St. Nicholas/
Can offer this season that may tickle us,/
All the giving of gifts, all the hoopla, and gee/
Let us not omit mentioning NFL on TV./
Even tho’ HenryM isn’t brimming with spirit,/
The holiday music is great… can you hear it?/
HAPPY HOLIDAYS, OSTOMATES.

Merry Christmas to all ...and all a good night !

You are some kind of awesome writer - and your book will be published - when? I look forward to your "memories" each day, much  like the cartoon or sports page of our yesteryear local newspapers.   Just, K

Hello HenryM.

I'd like to thank you for the rhyme,

which you composed to be in time

with Christmas Day and all that stuff

and so, for me, it is enough.

I don't now need to sit and type

my feelings on the Christmas hype,

so I can make my way instead

back to my warm and cosy bed.

                              Best wishes

                                       Bill

I keep asking him when the book is coming out, but he won't respond.  I think maybe it's in the works and he's afraid to jinx it??  Hey Henry??

Why don't you get your own blog

Both of you – Henry and Bill – have added divergency to my mid-morning reads. You are both “anecdoters” and because of the time zone difference both blogs are posted before I really get up in the morning. That often takes a cuppa or Joe, or go-juice, or jitter-juice, or mud, as well as, like today - a dab of Irish Cream.

Your blogs allow me to recollect, reminisce, stir up, jog my memory – but – the best is that it is gratifying to read great words and thoughts. JK Rowling re-introduced our younger generation to some great grammar and creative imaginations when she wrote Harry Potter. Reading, with writing as a trickle-down effect, became cool again.

I had a lawyer-friend, who generously did pro bono work for people who needed fair representation in the courts, after he retired. Because he was computer-challenged, I typed all his documents. Also, a MENSA member, he once called a judge “Your Horror.” This people-loving “foodie” would pedal his one-gear bike in jeans and a hoodie all around Edmonton discovering restaurants in crooks and crannies. He used to tell me that life was for exploring and eating and if he was unable to do those things, it was not worth living anymore. Unfortunately, he had a stroke and was sadly tube-fed, bed-ridden, and speech-impaired for the rest of his life.

That brings me to why I love reading your posts, even though I do not reply to all of them, and why I hope you continue to do so, because even as ostomates we can still enjoy life – we can travel, patronize any public event – even get bit my mosquitoes. It is a pleasure to read thought-provoking posts on yes – EVEN ON AN OSTOMATE SITE – because some of us don’t think of our condition as completely life-altering in a negative way, rather, it has given us life.

For a site with so many supposed members, most sedlom post or reply and some just pop in to complain and be grumpy, then disappear. For your generous contributions, albeit occassional negativity from other ostomates, I humbly thank you. Just, K.
