Slow release pain meds

I take oxy contin slow release pills 12 hours , but I have been noticing that if I Poo after around 4 hours after taking them they come out, to me that would mean I am not getting the full dose , 1 doctor says I do get the full dose and another doctor says that the pill I am seeing is just the remnants of the pill that holds it all together, they are a 12 hours slow release so surely if they are coming out after 4 it’s to soon . Would just like to know if anyone can give me more advice thanks

My thought would be that if you take them with foods that slow your output, they may have more time to absorb... try peanut butter, bread or rice. They all slow me down pretty well 👍

From the packet insert

OxyContin TABLETS ARE TO BE SWALLOWED WHOLE AND ARE NOT TO BE BROKEN, CHEWED, OR CRUSHED. TAKING BROKEN, CHEWED, OR
CRUSHED OxyContin TABLETS LEADS TO RAPID RELEASE AND
ABSORPTION OF A POTENTIALLY FATAL DOSE OF OXYCODONE.

This would suggest you are not getting the full impact of the dose, seems odd to prescribe these in your circumstance but what matters is do you think you are getting any benefit.

Hi Vikki, I was under the impression that ostomates can't take anything slow release since it moves through us faster and can come out whole in our pouches. Maybe your prescriber can change this and you can get your full medication effect.

Hi Vikki

You have not absorbed them but I would have to ask seems that your not getting any benefit from them since however long my question would be do I really need them because they are very addictive and can I try to get something less potent and dangerous? Xx
