Head and Shoulders Shampoo

A couple people have mentioned they use the above shampoo when showering? I have the impression it's not used hot hair on head.
Why used?

I use it every time I shower without my bag on. After washing normal, I put some on my stoma skin area and let it sit for maybe 30 seconds, then rinse well. Whatever the ingredient is in it is supposed to help your skin. I very rarely have irritated skin.

For irritated skin some use it all the time other's just when needed just a personnel choice which one you do

Dandruff shampoo has zinc in it . It helps to heal the skin

Don't know if all dander shampoo has it I know Head and shoulders does

Yep, Zinc.

Good to know!  I learned something today, and will have to try that.

That is right Zinc. An ostomy nurse recommended Head and Shoulders here some time ago. Selsun Blue is effective too. I use it on the dogs, good for minor dermatitis but not too often. German Shepherds, not a one-man job bathing them, and they wont let professionals get near, didn't train them right, I am getting old.

That is funny!  When we had our German Shepherd, she would not stand still for a bath, and yelped and cried like we were trying to kill her.  Yet, when we took her to the groomer, she was as relaxed and compliant as could be.  They always commented on how well behaved she was!

My surgeon told me to put Mylanta and sore or rashy skin when your bag is off and you have no output and it will help due to the antacid in the product.  I’ve tried it but not consistently enough.  Lie down for 15 minutes and do it at least once a day.

They all have different personalities and an aggressive one needs good training. I've had German Shepherds for long and took them to shows, snapping at a judge there means automatic disqualification and heaps of embarrassment. They are highly intelligent and willing to learn, but with these two I didn't spend enough time had other preoccupations. Best wishes.

Yes, I love Shepherds.  Our girl had a very unique personality and was smarter than some people I know.

Great info, I will try it. Thx Arlen

Oo, interesting thread - thank you guys.  I've always used H&S and, being 'follically challenged', can make a bottle last a whole year.  Shall maybe try it out bagless next weekend, as I've been nervous around getting any detergents near my little pal since I got him.

Just make sure whatever you use doesn’t have any oils/lotions in it.

Funny you should mention that!  I was looking at H&S shampoo in the store yesterday, and it was mind boggling.  Who knew there were so many kinds?!  There was one with avocado oil, one with argan oil, one for anti-itch, and  a couple others I don't even remember.  What do you buy?  I couldn't see one that seemed to be just plain H&S shampoo.

Original Head and Shoulders. I’ll post a picture later when I get home.

Here is what I use…..

I know the Selsen Blue has something in it that treats fungal infections, ringworm, etc… my son’s pediatrician had him using it for months before I took him to a dermatologist and the pediatrician had been treating the wrong skin condition 🤦🏻‍♀️

I love shepherds, grew up with them. My current 3 dogs are all rescues. I go to a groomer for fur trim because my one needs it but baths I try to do at home when the weather allows.

Thanks Alex!

Welp, gave it a try last night.  Turns out mine is the Classic H&S, so I didn't have to go out and buy another year's supply :)

Results were great!  Nice relaxing shower, the stoma got freedom and fresh air for a good few minutes, the skin around it felt clean and refreshed, no irritation and - best of all - no dandruff!

Thanks Alex :)

I use Head & Shoulders for men and sometimes Selsun Blue. I self inject Stelera every 3 months to control my psoriasis and when I am one week away from my next shot Selsun Blue seems to work best. Mike

I did get the H&S shampoo, and tried it once, but that was when I had the really raw spot around my stoma.  When I rinsed it off, it stung like Hell, so maybe not such a good idea on raw skin.  It's getting much better, almost healed, so I'll start using it with my next change.
