COPING WITH HEAT.
Some people think that it’s a treat
when weather also brings some heat.
It seems to bring the young folk out
to laugh and sing, and play about.
They seem to think that it’s okay
to treat heat like a holiday.
And in this party atmosphere
out comes all their summer gear.
With this light-hearted jollity
comes summer-type frivolity.
Shorts with tee shirts and sunshade
whipped cream, ice cream, lemonade.
These people can see nothing wrong
with the heat all summer long.
When I was young I would agree
and join in with this revelry.
But as life’s moved along a bit
this part of life has turned to shit.
Now I’m complete with ostomy
this type of heat will get to me.
Excessive heat will make me sweat
and sweat itself can pose a threat.
It makes the wafer on the bag
come unstuck and leak or sag.
Then you don’t have to take a guess
this can create an awful mess.
The thing with summer heat as well
is leaking bags bring out the smell.
No! I can’t cope with temperature
that causes me discomfiture.
For me, I’d say that as a rule
I like it when it’s nice and cool.
