Descend

DESCEND.

I’ve noticed, there’s a human trend
when one hasn’t got a friend
and motivaton’s at an end
to emotionally descend.

Then, logically we cannot think
and into a depression sink,
until we feel all hope is gone
and there’s no point to carry on.

This is a dangerous downward slope
when someone has lost all their hope
and they can’t see anyway through
to change their course to something new.

They’re stuck in this abysmal state
with nothing left to celebrate,
surrounded by all negatives,
spellbound by lack of positives.

A slippery slide into a hell
which, as far as they can tell,
provides no chance of an escape
and puts them in an awful scrape.

They have descended far too low
for them to know which way to go
and so, in desperation, they
try to seek another way.

When life becomes impossible
then death becomes more viable,
it’s then these people sometimes find
that suicide is on their mind.

They have descended through the floor
and cannot take it anymore,
and they can’t think of reasons why
they should not choose this time to die.

At times like these the greatest gift
would be to give someone a lift.

Hello kittybou.
Thank you for your appreciative comment on this rhyme. I had wondered if anyone on here would relate to it.
Your post also reminded me of a series of rhymes written when I was researching the relationship between people and their pets>

I am not religious in the way that modern churches tend to portray this concept, but below is a rendition of 'God' as a mirror image of 'Dog'.
Best wishes

THE LIGHT IS NOW FADING, OUR DAY’S AT AN END.
WHAT DO WE SEE IN THE MIRROR MY FRIEND?
BEYOND PAIN AND SADNESS OF LIFE’S MISERY
I SEE ALL THAT LOVE, WHICH YOU GAVE TO ME.

I have a black kitty named Josie, who I call my therapy kitty cause she’s always by my side taking care of me. 😻 What would we do without our beloved fur babies?

I find holidays hard because I feel lonely..I miss the big family gatherings we used to have when I was married. So this year I had a small gathering and invited my sisters,my kids and cousins..I expected a small group of 10 to 12 people. But Thanksgiving day..there were a total of 25 people in my small house..it was a joy to see everyone. I think all of us needed that family connection ..especially after covid. Sometimes it helps to just reach out..even if it makes you feel uncomfortable.
