Meet & talk to fellow OstoMates Support | Friendship | Dating 21,019 members

I've had Crohn's Disease and Ankylosing Spondilitis arthritis since I was in my early 30's. I had a colonectomy with a permanent ileostomy in 2003. I divorced years ago for reasons unrelated to my ileostomy or Crohn's Disease. I would like to find new friends as I know no one else with an ileostomy. I want to find out all that I can about new ostomy products and innovations to help ostomy survivors. I want to hear and understand first-hand about the wide range of the experiences, emotional issues and feelings of individuals who have faced the challenge of living their lives with an "appliance" outside of their body. I hope to add to my knowledge of practices, procedures, and products. More importantly, I want to understand the varying METHODS of coping with the feelings, fears, and other emotions which only those who have already lived with a stoma or some kind or inflammatory bowel disease can understand. I would love to connect with members who are at different stages of life and have a varied amount of years of experience with an ostomy.
I would like very much to be a part of the training to participate in the hospital, home or phone visits program.
