About
In December 2014 I was diagnosed with colon Cancer and had an emergency bowel resection and woke up with a colostomy. For the most part, my colostomy doesn't slow me down very much and I live a pretty normal life. I keep a sailboat on the Detroit River and also enjoy kayaking and mountain biking. My daughter and I left our footprints in 7 provinces this past summer and will get to the remaining 3 in the spring. I enjoy traveling and did a 10 day road trip through California, Nevada, and Arizona this spring. I'm hoping to hit Arizona and Utah this spring.

I'm still going head to head with the Cancer but I'm holding my ground. I was scheduled for a reversal in December 2015 but the surgeon found additional Cancer and decided not to proceed. December is definitely not my lucky month as I will be going under the knife once again for my 3rd consecutive December surgery to remove the latest round of cancer. The surgeon will assess the potential for reversing my colostomy but I'm not going to worry too much about it at this point. I have learned to live with my colostomy and don't let it get me down...fortunately, mine is pretty well behaved. ;-)

Cheers, Scott
