I had cancer surgery in 2010 and wore an ileostomy pouch during the healing process. I no longer have a pouch, but the "new normal" dictates a lot of what I eat and how far from a bathroom I'm willing to venture (and when). I love hiking, kayaking, biking and spending time with my family. My wife died 3 years ago and had a full colostomy, so I'm not put off by pouches. Life is still beautiful and should be shared with others.
