I underwent a colostomy on May 5,2022 for a rectal abscess and fistula following chemotherapy and radiotherapy for rectal cancer in 2019. The colostomy did not produce output. So I underwent revision surgery a week later.

In June, my stoma prolapsed. I have tried various things all without success. These include icing the stoma, applying sugar, pushing the stoma back into place and using a pouching system with a raised wafer. Nothing has helped. I may try an ostomy belt. My surgeon tells me that the only real solution is yet another surgical procedure which I am trying to avoid. The prolapse causes no pain or discomfort. But I'm not happy having a link sausage hanging from my abdomen.

I am looking to interact with others with similar experiences but who have more experience in dealing with colostomies than I do.
