Living with Long-Term Effects After APR Surgery

I had surgery almost 13 years ago for colorectal cancer. My colostomy has been mostly easy to live with and for that I'm very grateful. The last couple of years I've had more and more lower back pain as well as in the area of the perineum. I'm told the “settling” of organs - bladder, uterus, etc., can be uncomfortable. Has anyone experienced any of these long-term issues? Yoga helps, but I still find myself reaching for the heating pad a lot!

Interesting. I've wondered what happens inside when stuff is taken out and there's an empty area 🤔

Yes, that's it exactly. Does anyone else sense this internal shift? And does it cause pain? Like I said, yoga helps.

I'm not quite 2 years into my surgery; guess my "stuff" hasn't settled yet. 😬😳

I'm almost 3 years old but haven't really had any issues yet. I am curious as well. 🌻
