Those are some long claws on Polecat. How do you keep her from destroying furniture?

Jodie, wont let me reply the usual way.

She has a scratching pole just like any other, no issue at all.

His mom is half German shepherd, quarter each lab and boxer, his baby daddy we suspect to be a catahoula cur mix

Those darn baby daddies. I wanted Mali b/c her mom was Belgian Malinois. Her head is so tiny though. Someone that adopted one of her brothers that I became Facebook friends with did a DNA test and whoever her father is definitely had chihuahua in him I was so ticked lol.

aw thanks for calling me Jodie and not a crappy name like Bob does 😆

so this may sound like a stupid question, but I'm asking anyways. I have 2 cats who were barn kittens from PA- I think they fall under domestic shorthair. Did you have to train your cat to only use the scratching pole? Mine destroyed a brand new couch right after we got them back in 2014. The one Kenya, knows her name, comes when I call her, sits and begs with the dogs when I'm eating she's even started pawing at me. When she was a kitten I would carry her around in my zip up hoodies during the day so I think she bonded to me. The other cat, Nairobi adores my son- I've never seen a cat adore a person like she does with him.

We've said after these cats no more. I'm a dog person but I love all animals except snakes and prob some other reptiles/amphibians. I texted my mom and asked her to find pictures of the pet raccoons I had growing up 😆

Absolutely correct.  I needed to clean the stall he was hunting in, so I put him in the cage for 5 minutes while I raked out the stall and then put him back where I found him.  I find keeping any animal in a cage (as a 'pet') for human entertainment about as cruel as there is.  Which is why I switched my preference from 'death' to 'life in prison without parole' for assholes who do bad things.  I hope that doesn't make me a Democrat!

Me personally, copperhead = dead, black snake = yeah you're good lol, catch all the mice so they don't come in the house.....

Yeah, I hear ya.  I run into that 'kill what you fear' mentality a lot.  Whatever works for ya.  Black snakes get taken and released in the woods, as they eat my chicken, duck and goose eggs.  Copperheads only eat the mice.  Everything has a purpose........except most humans.....so it's live and let live around here.........and trespassers are shot on sight!

Woo-Hoo!

No training to speak of, they just seem to take to the post very quickly. We've never had any do damage to furniture but I know that some do. Polecat is very aloof, can be very distant or very affectionate, got little bit of a wild streak sometimes and can be very noisy, she doesn't meow though, has a sort of a call or cry but all good.

This is my ‘sister in law' Pepper aka my in laws dog that spends a lot of time at my house. She came from the same rescue in TX as my 3. You can't see in this picture but she has scars across the front of her chest from someone leaving her tied outside in a homemade rope harness and left. For the rough start she had, she loves people and doesn't believe in personal space as you can see. She's definitely living the good life, spoiled by my in laws and makes herself comfortable at my home too 😆
