Prices of devices

PRICES OF DEVICES.

Is it me? Or do I see
consistent inconsistency
in the modern economy
to do with disability?

When I look at health devices,
then I look at all their prices,
what I can see surprises me,
for there seems inequality.

I think it’s diabolical
with prices astronomical
and when the cost is so inflated
just because it’s health-related.

It must be very wrong indeed
when people are in dire need
to rig the price of goods so high
that only rich people can buy.

It’s hard enough for them each day,
without the fact they have to pay
over the odds for what they need
because of someone else’s greed.

I think sick and disabled folk
should not be burdened by the yoke
of funding those who profiteer
from the making of their gear.

It’s just as well that charities
can help with these disparities
otherwise, their lives might be
more of a catastrophe.

There’s something rotten to the core
when people try to profit more
from those disabled people who
may not even have a clue.

Devices should be made non-profit,
so no one can make money off it.

To think that a product or service will improve quality wise by destroying the initiative to create a product or service ( to profit from your efforts) is pure foolishness. It has never worked in the history of mankind. Socialism can be defined as “everyone gets a free $hit sandwich” communism can be defined “you don’t get the bread “

Hello MMSH.
Thank you for your observations on this post.
Although the concept I was referring to was not that of capitalism versus communism in this particular post. It was more to do with the appearance that goods were being marketed for disabled people at a much higher price than not too dissimilar goods for non-disabled people.
reasonable profit being one concept whilst excessive profits being perceived as something entirely different, especially when those profits are made at the expense of other people's misery.
Just a thought!
Your response has, however, prompted me to re-examine my perspectives on the various social systems that have been adopted /preferred /forced upon them or encouraged by persuasion,  by different human beings during their evolution. Hence, I will spend a little time in contemplation of this issue, so that I can clarify where I stand on the subject matter.
As it seems to be a rather large, complex and intertwined relationship with other factors such 'belief systems', it might take a while to come to any reasonable conclusions on the subject. So, please don't expect anything anytime soon!

Best wishes

Hello MMSH.
Thank you so much for prompting me to think again about differences and similarities between capitalism, communism, socialism communalism and collectivism. Of course, all these systems are supported by principles and belief systems, so any contemplation of the subject should include this aspect.
From my perspective, a couple of rhyming verses cannot do justice to such a vast subject matter. However, I am too old to begin writing another academic thesis, so my thoughts have been condensed into the rhyming verse below.
WARNING: THIS RHYME COULD BE INTERPRETED AS CONTAINING POLITICAL CONTENT, SO THOSE WHO DO NOT WISH TO READ SUCH THINGS SHOULD SWITCH OFF NOW!

Best wishes

OH! WHAT A TANGLED WEB WE WEAVE.

ETHICS, MORALS
BELIEFS, RELIGIONS,
CAPITALISM, COMMUNISM,
COMMUNALISM, COLLECTIVISM.

Oh! What a tangled web we weave
when we stop thinking, and ‘believe’,
for some beliefs will underscore
the fact that we desire more.

Sometimes beliefs can be so strong
we cannot tell what’s right from wrong,
then we’ll support a system where
it’s unlikely we‘ll share or care.

Some people will prefer a creed
which fosters selfishness and greed
and so, what we may then expect
are morals that become suspect.

Within this warped morality
they have their own reality,
which praises inequality
and makes it a legality.

They do not look for reasons why
but only wish to justify
their own beliefs about what may
lead to getting their own way.

In their world, deceit is rife
and only they deserve a life
festooned with wealth and property,
and largely free from poverty.

They blame the poor for being so
and they’ll  pretend that they don’t know
that inequality has grown
from the seeds that they have sown.

BELIEFS, RELIGIONS,

Some might contend they’re Christian,
Jew, Islamic or Mormon,
or some other religion where
their gospels say that they should care.

And yet, they twist the messages
within religious passages
to fit with what ‘they’ want to be
within their own reality.

The morals of the marketplace
do not seem to leave a space
for the teachings of their gods
as they are greedy, grabbing sods.

The creed of greed is all they need
so, once they plant this noxious seed
they’ll tend and love it, as one would
if you believed it to be good.

This greed is often thought to be
agreed as something monetary,
but I contend this is not so
as other wickednesses grow.

The greed for power and control
helps them take on a whole new role,
when then they wish to dominate,
rule, dictate, and subjugate.

It should not come as a surprise
that their wealth will be weaponised
to win what they see as a war
against the vulnerable and poor.

There’s very few societies
have tamed these improprieties,
which means that humans have not learned
and morals are something they’ve spurned.

OH! WHAT A TANGLED WEB WE WEAVE (cont.)
CAPITALISM, COMMUNISM,

Modern forms of communism
mimic that of capitalism,
except the ‘state’ is greedy for
the wealth, the power and much more.

Who dictates and runs each show
clearly want others to know
who has the power and who rules,
to them, dissenters are just fools.

Politicians are paid to
have a biased point of view
that will uphold the status quo
and so their greed and powers grow.

For some, it is a crying shame
that both these systems are the same,
exploiting and abusing folk
who have been made to bear the yoke.

Each claims the other is no good,
and reason that their people should
reject and hate the other side
as if it’s something to deride.

Each system claims that they are right,
which means, they are prepared to fight
and kill each other if they can,
for this has been the way of man.

If they can’t win in a discussion
there’s an irrational repercussion,
which involves them feeling sore
and seeking to create a war.

Each side feels they’re superior
and others are inferior
so fighting and hostility
seems right within their polity.

OH! WHAT A TANGLED WEB WE WEAVE (cont)
COMMUNALISM, COLLECTIVISM.

And yet, not all of humankind
has chosen to be so unkind
that they want a society
so full of impropriety.

Some have chosen other ways
to live their lives and spend their days,
giving support to one another
as if we were sister and brother.

Some choose to live in communes where
they all believe that they may share
whatever wealth and goods obtained
are shared, so everybody’s gained.

This living is communalism
but some prefer collectivism
where the means of production
and consequent distribution.

Are controlled and owned by none,
but shares are there for everyone,
which is a system that has a goal
to keep some balance of control.

At present, this is just small scale
as present rulers will derail
anything that threatens them
or their status quo condemn.

It’s true, some humans will destroy
those things around them that annoy,
and that includes their fellow man
for they will kill all that they can.

And yet, the moral framework’s there
for humans to show that they care
by making sure that life is fair
within systems that care and share.

What a total waste or time trying to rationalize things with a liberal. It’s really quite simple, if a man is working and you stop paying him…. He will quit working. How hard is that for you to comprehend??? A corporation or a business is no different.
