DELIQUESCENCE.
Deliquescence is a process
that most people may not notice
for, in essence, it involves
a process where something dissolves.
Most often this is water-based
when something solid becomes faced
with water penetration so
into a liquid it will grow.
Certain fungi will deliquesce
after their spores have been expressed,
so what seemed solid before that
becomes liquid like heated fat.
This transformative chemistry
reminds me of my ostomy,
where glue that holds stoma bags on
dissolves in liquid and is gone.
Sometimes the liquid is my sweat
which interacts and then can get
underneath the wafer’s seal
to melt the glue and make it peel.
Sometimes this liquid is output,
which makes adhesive go kaput
and thus, releases bags as well
along with **it and awful smell.
When I examine this failed glue
amongst the smelly, nasty goo,
the cause can be identified
for glue I find is liquified.
Hence, having come across this word,
which I admit I’d never heard,
it seemed to be a precise fit
for stoma mishaps and that’ s*it.
