Feedback on extender strips would be appreciated.

I have only used the Brava strips. Sometimes I put them on right away; other times, when the edge starts to lift on the flange. Make sure your skin is dry. Use them when swimming also.

This site is a godsend. As a newbie (colostomy on Nov 8, '21), I look at it every day for a number of reasons. Reading what people are going through makes me grateful that my elective surgery because of a severe case of IBS-C is nothing compared to what they have been through and are still living with.

I don't have to go to the hospital for anything related to my ostomy. I feel sorry for those who do and am in awe of those who can use humor to describe their ordeal. I identify with those who express their fears. I especially identify with those who are depressed because I am clinically depressed and have general anxiety disorder. How ironic that having a colostomy eliminated some of the depression and anxiety that the IBS created. I've been widowed twice and I'm on match.com.
I immediately included my operation in my profile and am pleased to say it doesn't seem to make a difference.

And there is much humor on this site and it's one of the reasons I enjoy it so much.

I could name numerous things I've learned from reading people's comments/questions/answers.

After months following on a daily basis, my only negative comment is I don't like listing the most popular members.
It's not that I don't like these people; I do. It's that I think it elicits some "Facebook"-like banter or comments that are gratuitous.

I don't do any social media and think that its merits are overshadowed by too much negativity.

Meetanostomate is in no way negative. I just think the gallery of "popularity" detracts from what is an excellent website that deals with a serious issue that causes a myriad of emotions.

The strips are blow-out savers. I used them every day. When your barrier seal breaches and begins to leak, this strip prevents the spill. Worth it. Plus a belt. Nice combo.

No skin issues. They are incredibly sticky.

Brava strips, I have never had an issue; they work fantastically. They are a permanent part of my routine, and I like the extra security.

I use either Brava or CeraPlus. I find them to be extremely useful, especially when I mess up my bag while changing in a hurry. I think you will find them very helpful.

Hi all, with the warmer temps and more showers, I use pink Nexcare tape around the border of my wafer/baseplate.

Hi Ron. How does that type or brand differ from the C strips by Coloplast? Any advantage other than glowing in the dark pink?😄

I used to use the tape before I discovered the Brava strips. I cut one in half and use one piece on the top and bottom to stop the appliance from starting to peel away in the shower, etc. It's just a security thing for me.

Cool.. the c form on those brava strips is tight.. I think using a four-corner flange you need 4 pieces. These are straight strips, correct? Like masking tape?.

I'm still hooked on the pink color though Ron mentioned..

That's hot😄

Yes, the Nexcare/Micropore is straight, like masking tape. My bag has a round base, so one Brava "C" cut in half, top and bottom, is good for me.

Hi Warrior, I've never used anything but the Nexcare tape, so I don't have any idea how good or bad the Coloplast strips are. Plus, I don't have to order it; I just pick up a roll at Walmart.

I use the Brava extenders. The tape on the barrier would come off of my skin regularly, so I use them regularly. Also, I switched to a Hollister barrier with no tape and use the extenders. By switching to the tapeless barrier, the overall diameter is much smaller. I am in the pool a lot, and the extenders discolor after I get out of the water, but they hold fast.

I have a square wafer with a tape boundary. The tape at the top of my wafer tends to come loose with any type of activity. To keep the tape on, I use Brava Elastic Barrier Strips, Straight.
