Slip-On Stealth Belt for Better Sleep?

Hi All, I figured it was time to stop catching these posts by Google searches and to sign up myself. I have a Stealth Belt, a standard Velcro Pro which I sleep in. I really don't like the feel of my appliance against my skin. Anyway, I was just on the Stealth Belt website and saw they offered a slip-on belt. I was wondering if anyone had used one and what their thoughts were? I was thinking it might be even better for sleeping. Also (TMI WARNING) the measurements on the ordering portion of the website go up to 46, and I measured myself at 48. They said to "call" if I needed a different size. Anyone have experience with that? I am also aware that they were running very late on orders in the fall and not responding to calls and emails and that they were recently purchased by someone who promised to do better. Anyone know if they're delivering on that promise? Thanks!

Don't know if they are better yet or not. I discovered they had changed management last night and tried to send a message. I never received a reply to messages sent last fall so I'm cautiously hopeful.

It is my understanding that the slip-on belt does not provide as much support as the pro belt. It is not the choice to prevent or support a hernia. However if you are only wearing it at night to prevent feeling the bag against your skin, I'd expect it to be fine for that purpose.

MeetAnOstoMate website turned out to be a lifesaver for me. I say this because, for me, this ostomy journey was a devastating event both physically and mentally.
Here, I found folks who understood my feelings even better than my family or friends could. Only a fellow ostomate can understand how you really feel.

Information sharing is key, as well as support and understanding, to ultimately bring more harmony into our ostomy life journey. I found here, virtually no ostomy questions that are not touched upon. Questions which some might feel, may be too trivial to contact a doctor about or even too shy or embarrassed to ask their own doctor about. They are all addressed here.

For me, anonymity was very helpful in seeking answers to each phase of this life changing medical and mental event. Sharing initial trauma feelings, ongoing support and finally acceptance was what I found with my membership here. I am not sure what my mental and physical attitude would be today without having found this site.

Additional benefits included: finding products and ideas to help with daily maintenance, innovative ideas and as a bonus - some great humor.
After all “laughter IS the best medicine”.

I have been a member for 3 years, an ostomate for 4 years - yes, I certainly wish I would have found it immediately after surgery but so very thankful I finally found it when I did as I truly believe it turned my troubled depression and situation into a more positive attitude and acceptance.

Sincerely,
An Ileostomate nicknamed Justbreathe 🫶🏼

I purchased a stealth belt from Amazon and I feel that it didn’t support anything at all. It made me feel as though the appliance was being slowly moved depending on my positioning.

At this moment, I’m using the skinny coloplast belt, which isn’t great, either.

If anyone has a good belt to suggest, I’d love to hear it.

Hi YerOstomy, as a commercial fisherman, firefighter, and shipyard worker, I wear a Stealth Belt practically 24 hours a day and depend on the support provided. That said, for light duty and to eliminate contact between pouch and skin, some of the products available at ostomysecrets.com might work. ---Littlefish

I wear Nu-Hope belts 24-7 — insurance covers the cost.

I don't like the 1-inch belts provided by the ostomy appliance manufacturers — I prefer something wider.

All ostomies are not on the left — descending and sigmoid colostomies are typically on the left. Ileostomies and ascending colostomies are typically on the right. Transverse colostomies are typically on the upper abdomen. Ostomies are best placed on a flat part of the abdomen away from folds and creases and where they can be easily viewed for managing. Emergency surgeries and other medical necessities may warrant placing the ostomy in non-typical locations.

If all you want is something between your bag and skin, just buy a maternity band, cut a hole to fit your bag and wear it. If you want support, then look into adjustable belts that can be tightened to help support the stoma area.

I use Nu-Hope Corp. belts.  Wear them 24x7.  Only time the belt is off:  Showering and wafer change.  I have a mild parastomal hernia... that I hope remains mild.

I have three belts. One is the Stealth belt Velcro. Almost never use it anymore. Now I use Ostomysecret slip on belts. I have the "swimming" one and a regular daily. Swimming is not waterproof,  it's just not as wide. I wear the swimming one out everyday. Its not so wide i feel the need to tuck it in. The normal wider one i wear to sleep in. Keeps me secure and helps contain everything if the bag fails. The nice thing about these is no Velcro and two pouches inside. Doesn't matter if you have a colostomy or ileostomy.

Check out Ostomysecret.  I believe they are part of Convatec.

I completely agree. Clothes don't ride up and honestly just very comfortable.  I only sleep in the wider one.

I think a big issue for me, personally, is that my hips are so much wider than my upper abdomen. So if it's tight on the lower, it's loose on the upper and vice versa. I need one that's more nylon, which can conform to my “I have 3 kids” shape, lol.
