3 years ago, my grand mother was diagnosed with colon cancer. Everyone in the family were terrified that they might be counting down to her last day. That's when the advice of getting an ostomy surgery done on her was suggested. The doctors said it will not only help her get better but would lengthen her life span. After much contemplation and persuasion, my grand ma got the surgery.

She suffered depression and insecurities. The family had to learn how to help her the best way possible. Slowly, other relatives came out and shared their well kept secret; they had ostomy bags as well.

Majority of other people had no idea what an Ostomy was and that made it difficult to keep explaining the whole concept to them.

Today my grand ma leads a healthy life and she is happy. She goes for walks, takes care of a whole house, cooks a new dish every day and everyone comes to her home to taste her sweets.

Inspired by her journey, I decided that I wanted to make a documentary on this mysterious life saving surgery. The Super Hero Surgery.

I am searching for ostomates in India who are willing to tell their story so as to motivate and inspire others who suffer in silence.

Kindly contact me, in case you want to be one of the ostomates who share their journey.
