About
I had my first surgery (10/16/08) for my Crohn's Disease, resulting in a colostomy. Then I had my second surgery about a year later (2/4/10) when all of my colon was removed and now I'm a lovely owner of a permanent ileostomy. I feel a million time better health wise than I had before surgery. I do however have some body image issues I'm going to have to overcome and I'm sure I will in due time. I'm learning to adjust to life with a bag attached to my side.
I have BS degree in nutrition, but will eventually be going back to school to become a Registered Dietitian. I'm currently working as Dietetic Assistant. I have a wonderful husband who loves me unconditionally. He has been by my side through thick and thin and I'm very blessed to have him in my life. I have wonderful friends and family that are all very supportive and understanding of my situation.
I would love to be in contact with other IBD people that also have ostomies. I've met a couple of ostomates via Facebook oddly enough, but coming to this community of ostomates has given me a "home" to come to since my first surgery.

I joined this web group to try to find people I can relate to. I want to be able to talk to someone that knows exactly what I am going through. I would like to hear suggestions and advice on the life of an ostomate.
