Meet & talk to fellow OstoMates Support | Friendship | Dating 20,350 members

Hi, I had bladder and prostate cancer and my bladder and prostate (also my appendix) removed almost 8 yrs. ago. I have been trying to get in touch with people that will either be having the surgery or after the surgery to give them support or just someone to talk too or ask questions. I do have lots of knowledge when it comes to this kind of stuff, and experience with almost any problem that someone may have come up. At the very beginning of this new experience I had some pretty serious problems and nobody could help me from the very start. Luckily for me I got lucky and was contacted with a very good ostomy care provider. Between the two of us we worked together to finally get some semblance of a normal life. We both asked questions and learned from each other.

I am retired from law enforcement for just about the same time as when I developed the "c" word. I am also a Viet Nam Vet, and unfortunately all thru my life I have seen many things that most people will never see or have even heard of. And have done things that I am certainly not very proud of. But things are put into our lives to either learn something and continue living, or not learn and not go on living. Hard truth but so true.

Not sure if this is the site I want to get involved with, simply just because I want to be more in a support/question kind of fellow. Sure I can read and replay to the different posts in here, but not sure that would help me or others. Just sayin.

Take care and please be safe out there,
