I had. rectal tumour with chemo and radiation. I had surgery to remove the tumour August 2017. Currently wearing an ileostomy bag. Just had a video conference with my surgeon as we prepare for take down surgery in the next couple of months. I am now scared and anxious because of my age ..70 and the fact that my tumour was quite low and whether I will tolerate the recovery process. I heard most of the bad stuff like it could take up to a year to have a semi normal bowel movement, I was adamant about wanting the take down, now I’m just plain scared. How many ileostomates have the takedown surgery....do most go for it? Appreciate any feedback. Thanks. Prizzy
