I am a graphic artist for a packaging manufacturer, which I love and hate at the same time! I love being creative... I hate deadlines! Lately I've been so busy with work that any other interests or hobbies that I once had, have been put on hold for a while. Between working, trying to loose weight and be more active at the gym, I don't have alot of time for anything else besides resting and of course... shopping (typical woman!). When I get the chance, I do like to get dressed up and enjoy a night with the girls, it's just happening less and less frequently.
So, I'm open for discussions if anyone would like to chat.
Love to you all... Camille

Hello I'm Camille, I've had a Urostomy and a Terminal Colostomy since birth due to an Omphalocoele among many many other abnormalities. I wear a pouch for the Urostomy only and irrigate the colostomy by taking daily enemas, which works for only a small number of colostomy patients (I'm glad that I'm one of them! 2 bags would be too much to handle!). An interesting fact about me: the doctor who performed my surgeries, Dr. Rowena Spencer, was one of the first women to become a pediatric surgeon in the United States and the first woman surgical intern at Johns Hopkins (she was also a resident under Dr. C. Everett Koop at one point in her career and the first woman surgeon in the state of Louisiana! Cool huh!).
I don't know of any other way of life other than my ostomies, this is my normal. I've been to ostomy support group meeting in my area before (like years and years ago), only to find that there were mostly people who were new to this lifestyle and there is nothing wrong with that but I felt like my situation was completely different and I felt like I didn't fit in. To make a long story short, in the 34 years that I have been alive I've only known 1 other person who had an ostomy. As a child and a yound adult, I didn't talk about it because of the shame and embarrassment I felt.
Today, I'm happy to be someone who got a chance at life, and I'll always be grateful.
