I've had UC for 25 years and just lost the fight to keep my colon, it ruptured in Sept., 2011 so now I have a ileostomy and am trying to learn to deal with it but there are times that I freak out! I'm looking for supportive people where we can each help the other deal with these issues.

Okay, where to start! My friends describe me as being very loyal and non-judgmental with a great sense of humor and good personality. They would also say I'm an incurable romantic, I believe there can be a "happily ever after" just still looking for it! Don't get me wrong, I'm not disillusioned, I know life and love has it's ups and downs but staying with someone and helping each other through the tough times is the real "happily ever after" for me! I have a huge capacity for compassion & empathy, especially for children and animals. While on vacation last year I made people wait while I rescued a turtle! Both my cat and dog I saved from "the mean streets" of Fort Scott, KS!

I always try to make people feel welcomed & included even though I'm a pretty quiet or shy person for the most part.

I love music (mostly but not limited to classic rock and new country) and concerts, thunder storms and the smell of rain in the air, a fresh cut lawn and flowers in the spring. Sunny days and starry nights. A cold snowy day to snuggle by the fire. A great book, long walks with my dog, a spur of the moment road trip on back roads to explore new towns, flea markets and antique stores. Boat rides and the lake. I like to watch movies, either in or out, love drive-ins but are hard to find anymore. Love a great Chiefs football game, I had season tickets for a few years until I moved east. I know they aren't doing so great but like I said, I'm nothing if not loyal!

I run the gamut, love my jeans and boots but also like to get dressed up occasionally for a night on the town. I have a dry sense of humor and love to laugh, that's what does a body good, not just milk!

I've been divorced for about 6 1/2 years, after 10 years. I don't have any kids, it wasn't planned but just never happened for me. I would have liked to have at least one but am okay with it.

I have a BS in criminology, at one time was thinking about law school and actually went down to Austin, TX and checked out their school! BUT then I started working for AT&T during my last year of school and ended up with them for almost 20 years. I transferred to their headquarters in NJ and was there for about 10 years. My last year or so with them I stared working on my master's degree in Organizational Management which they were footing the bill for (nice benefit). I finally got caught up in one of the many layoffs which ended my tuition benefits. I also have a Master's Certificate in Project Management from the Stevens Institute of Technology which is expensive wall paper!

I had a ileostomy in Sept, 11 and am starting to accept but some days the whole idea of it still blows my mind!
