     I can remember being on the waiting list at our elementary school’s library for this book. It was one of the most popular titles, and if you had it, you were pretty popular too. 😂

My favorite poem from that book was Crowded Tub.
There's too many kids in this tub
There's too many elbows to scrub
I just washed a behind that I'm sure wasn't mine
There's too many kids in this tub.

Thanks for posting this Cplumber! I do love poetry. ❤️ Here is my favorite poem by Max Ehrmann.

Desiderata

Go placidly amid the noise and haste,
and remember what peace there may be in silence.
As far as possible without surrender
be on good terms with all persons.
Speak your truth quietly and clearly;
and listen to others,
even the dull and the ignorant;
they too have their story.

Avoid loud and aggressive persons,
they are vexations to the spirit.
If you compare yourself with others,
you may become vain and bitter;
for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself.
Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans.

Keep interested in your own career, however humble;
it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time.
Exercise caution in your business affairs;
for the world is full of trickery.
But let this not blind you to what virtue there is;
many persons strive for high ideals;
and everywhere life is full of heroism.

Be yourself.
Especially, do not feign affection.
Neither be cynical about love;
for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment
it is as perennial as the grass.

Take kindly the counsel of the years,
gracefully surrendering the things of youth.
Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune.
But do not distress yourself with dark imaginings.
Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness.
Beyond a wholesome discipline,
be gentle with yourself.

You are a child of the universe,
no less than the trees and the stars;
you have a right to be here.
And whether or not it is clear to you,
no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.

Therefore be at peace with God,
whatever you conceive Him to be,
and whatever your labors and aspirations,
in the noisy confusion of life keep peace with your soul.

With all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams,
it is still a beautiful world.
Be cheerful.
Strive to be happy.

I’m not a poetry fan but because YOU posted it I will force my self to read it. I did stumble across the fact it is poetry month by listening to public radio, and I did buy some poetry books for my grandkids to expose them to it. Those cute little grandkids will make you expand your horizons 😳😁🤣

Love the grandkids! ❤️ I do believe some (if not all) of the Dr. Seuss books are considered poetry. Do your grandkids have those?

I Ordered a poetry book for my grandkids to expose them to it and was going to order that one but wasn’t sure how racy it was so I ordered a more conservative one now I think I’ll have to order that one🤣

     One of my absolute favorites! I still think of it every time I have the babies in the tub. When my sis, cousin, and I are together there are at least 3 babies in the tub at the end of the day. ❤️

     Well, you are in the “cool kids” club. You may as well have the book too. 😂 It’s honestly really endearing. I’m not a huge poetry fan either, but there are some that will always have my heart.

     Nope Alex. I will not take this sweet post down our proverbial rabbit hole. You’ll have to start a whole new one to bait me. 😂😇

The moonlight whispers your name

Song of my soul

Your eyes crash on me sweet rays of light

First scent of spring, first ray of dawn

Sip from the fountain I thirst no more

A smile from your lips and I search no more

The world shouts between us but the moonlight whispers your name

Song of my soul
