I'm 51 years old and in relatively good shape. I had emergency surgery for diverticulitis on March 18th, removing a perforated segment of my colon. I have a colostomy. I had to go back to the hospital when I started having abdominal pain, which turned out to be a diseased gallbladder and pancreatitis. One side effect was pleural effusion around my lung. They drained a liter and a half of fluid. The doctors did not want to perform another surgery so soon, so they told me they would remove the gallbladder at the time of my reversal surgery or 3 months from the initial surgery. I'm at 11 weeks now, feeling great, but the colorectal surgeon who is going to perform my reversal told my emergency surgeon that I will need to wait 6 months before he will reverse. I was wondering what the average wait time is for reversal surgery while also understanding I have a diseased gallbladder that needs to come out. I was 230 lbs at the time of the initial surgery and lost 35 lbs (I don't recommend losing it this way) : )

I just wanted to tell all the users of this site that I really love having the opportunity to express my feelings here. I'm positive that many feel the same. I wish that all here come out of the experience you have here will be like mine. Support and understanding from others with issues similar like each other will help us all and give the relief we all crave, well, I'm selfish. I'm here because I need support. And I find enough here to help in the tough times. Thank you. I really mean it.
