First bath!

This topic is about someone who recently had ileostomy surgery and is sharing their experience of taking their first full bath since the procedure. Initially, they were limited to washing at the sink due to complications and concerns about their appliance staying secure. Here's what they learned and some advice they shared:

1. Before bathing, check the adhesion of your appliance. If it's not secure, change it to ensure it stays in place during the bath.

2. After bathing, monitor the appliance for any signs of lifting or leaks. In this case, only minor edge lifting occurred, which was manageable.

3. If you're trying to bathe without additional sealing products, a trial-and-error approach can help you find what works best for you.

4. Consider using the waterproof-tape method:
- Fold or lift the pouch upward and secure it to your skin just below the chest with waterproof tape.
- Fill the bathtub only up to the point where the flange begins to keep it dry and prevent any curling or irritation.

5. Waterproof seal products can be very helpful:
- Sure Seal Rings act like a transparent second skin over the baseplate, making it waterproof and containing any leaks. They are popular for both bathing and swimming.
- Alternatively, you can cover the entire baseplate with waterproof tape for added security.

These tips can help make bathing a more comfortable and stress-free experience after ileostomy surgery.
