7:00 am 15th

For my reversal surgery. 17 months.

It's long awaited and now nervous time. I'm having a good lunch today.

All you have to do tomorrow is take a deep nap. I'm told I pack too much for hospital stays, but.... I don't care, I'm the one having surgery.

MeetAnOstoMate website turned out to be a lifesaver for me. I say this because, for me, this ostomy journey was a devastating event both physically and mentally.
Here, I found folks who understood my feelings even better than my family or friends could. Only a fellow ostomate can understand how you really feel.

Information sharing is key, as well as support and understanding, to ultimately bring more harmony into our ostomy life journey. I found here, virtually no ostomy questions that are not touched upon. Questions which some might feel, may be too trivial to contact a doctor about or even too shy or embarrassed to ask their own doctor about. They are all addressed here.

For me, anonymity was very helpful in seeking answers to each phase of this life changing medical and mental event. Sharing initial trauma feelings, ongoing support and finally acceptance was what I found with my membership here. I am not sure what my mental and physical attitude would be today without having found this site.

Additional benefits included: finding products and ideas to help with daily maintenance, innovative ideas and as a bonus - some great humor.
After all “laughter IS the best medicine”.

I have been a member for 3 years, an ostomate for 4 years - yes, I certainly wish I would have found it immediately after surgery but so very thankful I finally found it when I did as I truly believe it turned my troubled depression and situation into a more positive attitude and acceptance.

Sincerely,
An Ileostomate nicknamed Justbreathe 🫶🏼

The best authentic Mexican burrito with salsa verde and green chilies and chicken tamales, and dinner tamales, and jalapeno venison sausage. Gotta get my spicy food out of my system.

Ha! I dare not try that after surgery for a while. Think I'll eat extremely bland food after. If I have to, a B.R.A.T. diet

Scrambled eggs, soups, ground beef, baked fish. We'll see. I'm a starving kind of girl. I love my food. I'm already hungry. I was told nothing after midnight and it's only 9:17.

I had bought those Gerber baby puffs when I was on soft foods after graduating from thick liquids. My teen son loved them and pretty much ate them all lol

I had my surgery 6 days ago. I feel so much better. 5 days back to regular diet. As before surgery, I eat little bites to make sure I tolerate them well. Yesterday, tuna sandwich. I mostly ate tuna for dinner, 4 bites of hamburger patty with mustard, 2 bites of white cake, 4 baked Lay's chips. Today, breakfast 6th day. Little cup Dole peaches, dry rice Chex, 2 bites of scrambled eggs (hospital ones). Yuck. I made sure and brought my butt paste and soft TP and baby wipes so no booty burns. Haha. I feel like I can breathe again. Thanks for checking in on me. Jesus is the best!! And truly answers our prayers.

This may sound like a stupid question, but what kind of drain is that with the red output? Is that an abscess drain?
