I have a colostomy that I have had since 2001. In 2004 I started doing a process called irrigation and would love to chat with anyone who also does irrigation

Well it's just coming upto a year since I had my emergency stoma. Since joining MAOM I have learnt all different kinds of ideas to help with the stoma. Not only that I have made a lot of good friends who I can talk to. The beauty of this site is it's not just giving tips and ideas we talk about anything and everything. So thank you for giving us a great site. XX

Hello tkent 1948.
Having been anally irrigating for years, one of my main questions to the (stoma) surgeon was whether I would be able to irrigate my stoma. Once he stated that this would be possible I felt confident about having the operation and have been irrigating since about 6 weeks after the op.
What I usually advise newbies to this technique is to have a look at some of the videos on Youtube as they are much easier to understand than the written word. That said, if there is anything specific you would like to chat about, I will be glad to try to help.
