I have a colostomy that I have had since 2001. In 2004 I started doing a process called irrigation and would love to chat with anyone who also does irrigation

I can't use irrigation but what I know I learned from Bill, perhaps he will weigh in.
This is a remarkable community of 40,920 members.
You will get real advice from fellow ostomates who truly understand you - things you won't find in the books.
And it's not all about ostomy - there is friendship and relationships too.

Yeah wow, this site helped so much, I mean really who do you know with this infliction? No one, felt so alone and disgusted by myself every turn.
But it ended up being so damn strengthening, I got fucking moving, really only another choice.

Hello tkent 1948.
Having been anally irrigating for years, one of my main questions to the (stoma) surgeon was whether I would be able to irrigate my stoma. Once he stated that this would be possible I felt confident about having the operation and have been irrigating since about 6 weeks after the op.
What I usually advise newbies to this technique is to have a look at some of the videos on Youtube as they are much easier to understand than the written word. That said, if there is anything specific you would like to chat about, I will be glad to try to help.
