Does anyone have problems with bloating or gas pain post-op colostomy? It's been 1 day after surgery. Need suggestions so I feel better during recuperation.

Jabra.

Sorry, I don't remember having any gas pains after surgery. You are still in the hospital, right? Ask the nurse what you can have!

Thank you for your quick reply. I'll discuss irrigation with my doctor. I'm sure it would be down the road. My output is still very liquid. It's all so unpredictable at 6 weeks post-op. I have such a fear of constipation as I struggled with this forever. I used a fiber source to thicken the stool but it hasn't helped very much. I guess I will continue to be positive but it is a bit of a pain. This website is great and everyone is so informative. Cheryl

They told me to lie on my side and it worked.

My nurse told me to lie on my left side in the fetal position and it definitely helped!

Sure, after major surgery.

Nurse gave me peppermint tea and that helped.
